In Mykonos, there are beaches for dancing, beaches for dozing, and beaches for that perfect “just fell out of the sea like a sun-kissed Greek nymph” moment.

But here’s the thing: they aren’t all easy to find.

Fear not, for I’m here to help you cut through the confusion.

Whether you’re wanting wild and remote or sleek and serviced, here are the best beaches in Mykonos and exactly how to get to them.

Agios Sostis Beach

Unspoilt, uncrowded, unforgettable.

Agios Sostis is a slice of Mykonos before the beach clubs moved in.

There are no loungers, no umbrellas, no music. Just sand, sea, and sky. This is one of the last truly natural beaches on the island.

How to get there:
You’ll need a car, scooter or ATV. It’s a 20-minute drive from Mykonos Town. No bus service. Parking is free but limited. Wear proper shoes as there’s a short rocky descent.

Kapari Beach

Tiny, hidden, and magic at sunset.

Kapari is a secret worth keeping. No signs, no facilities, just a narrow cove with clear turquoise water. Come late in the day and you’ll catch one of the best sunsets on the island, no crowds in sight.

How to get there:
Head towards Agios Ioannis by car or bus. Park at the end of the road and walk 5–10 minutes along a dusty path. There’s no signage so ask a local if you’re lost. They’re sure to nod you in the right direction.

Fokos Beach

Wild, wind-swept, and wonderfully quiet.

Fokos sits far from the party coast. Expect waves, a rugged backdrop, and a rustic taverna behind the dunes. This place is perfect for solitude seekers.

How to get there:
Only accessible by car or ATV. Drive northeast past Ano Mera village. The last stretch is an unpaved road so take it slow and steady. It’ll be worth every bump.

Panormos Beach

A little bit luxe, a little bit local.

Panormos has balance. One half is home to Principote, a sleek beach club with daybeds and DJs. The other half is open to the public. You choose your side.

How to get there:
Buses from Mykonos Town run in summer. Otherwise, drive 15 minutes northeast. Ample parking, though it fills by midday.

Agios Ioannis

Calm, clear and relaxed.

Agios Ioannis is low-key and easygoing, with just enough cafés and restaurants to keep things convenient. Great for a swim and a long lunch. Less fuss, more peace.

How to get there:
Take the bus from Mykonos Town or drive. There’s plenty of parking and a straight shot west from the centre.

Ornos Beach

Lively, central and well-serviced.

Ornos is one of the most accessible beaches on the island, and it shows. Great for families, couples, and first-time visitors. Plenty of sunbeds, boat taxis, and good dining.

How to get there:
Ten minutes by car or direct bus from Mykonos Town. Easy walk if you’re staying nearby. Water taxis stop here too.

Elia Beach

Long, sandy, and stylish.

Elia is open-minded and effortlessly chic. You’ll find a welcoming mix of travellers, naturists, and beach club fans. Crystal water, gentle waves, and some of the best sand on the island.

How to get there:
Take the bus from Mykonos Town to Elia, or arrive in style by water taxi from Platis Gialos. Driving? There’s a decent car park above the beach.

Lia Beach

Calm and upscale with excellent snorkelling.

Lia is peaceful and pretty, with just the right amount of infrastructure. You’ll find one or two classy restaurants and plenty of space to stretch out. The water here is perfect for a snorkel.

How to get there:
Drive 25 minutes from Mykonos Town. Bus access is rare, so hire a car or scooter. Parking is easy.

Paraga Beach

Cool crowd, clear sea.

Paraga strikes a sweet balance between chilled and social. Trendy beach clubs without the mayhem. The water’s calm, the sand’s soft, and the atmosphere is very “cocktail in one hand, novel in the other”.

How to get there:
Take the bus to Platis Gialos, then walk 10 minutes. Or walk the coastal path from Paradise Beach if you’re feeling energetic.

Paradise Beach

The one that never sleeps.

If you’re after loud music, shots at noon, and dancing in a swimsuit, Paradise is your place. This is the island’s party HQ. Come with energy and earplugs.

How to get there:
Frequent buses from Mykonos Town. Also reachable via water taxi. Driving is possible, but the car park is often chaotic.

Super Paradise Beach

Even louder, even later.

Super Paradise is where the party goes nuclear. Packed, bold, and unapologetically hedonistic. The beach itself is beautiful if you can see it through the confetti.

How to get there:
Harder to reach by public transport. Best option is water taxi from Platis Gialos or Ornos. Otherwise, drive and prepare for a steep descent to the beach car park.

Bonus Tip: Use the Water Taxi

Want to beach-hop without hiring a car? Mykonos has a water taxi that runs between several major southern beaches from Ornos to Elia.

Stops typically include Ornos, Platis Gialos, Paraga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. Pay once, hop on and off.

In short?
There’s a beach for every mood and every level of noise tolerance.

Get up early. Pack light. Wear proper shoes.

And wherever you go, leave nothing behind but footprints and fabulous swimwear-shaped tan lines.
